Thank you! 2020 Matters of the Heart Gala Recap

The current year is 2020, but on Saturday, February 1, Horizon turned back the clock 100 years to the Roaring 20s.

The 14th Annual Matters of the Heart Gala was a lively throwback to the Flapper Era that saw over 300 guests converge on the Pfister Hotel to support the Grief Resource Center.

Horizon’s Grief Resource Center touches the lives of over 5,000 people, offering services to anyone in the community suffering from loss, free of charge.

By the end of the evening, we raised over $100,000 to keep the GRC’s doors open and services free. We could not have done it without the incredible generosity of our guests and of course, our official sponsors.

To our “Great Gatsby” sponsor, David Hobbs Honda, we thank you for your unwavering support. Your gift helps us guide the members of our community on the toughest journey of their lives. We are so proud to partner with you.

To Ascension Wisconsin, the Mullett Family and the Regnitz Family, our “All That Jazz” sponsors, we are so grateful to have your support in our mission to make a loving difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We truly thank you for helping make the Grief Resource Center possible.

To our “The Cat’s Meow” sponsors—Action Graphics, A&B Contractors, Concordance, Network Health, Orthopaedic Hospital of WI and Willis Towers Watson—we appreciate your very benevolent gifts that allow us to serve members of our community during their toughest times. We are honored to have your support in this endeavor.

And to Bell Ambulance, Delta Care, Digicorp, Enterprise, Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Integrity Wealth Management, Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation, Majic Productions, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Andrea & Christopher Mullett, Netsmart, US Cellular, Vizance and Wipfli—our “Bootlegger Club” sponsors—you play such an important role in helping Horizon achieve its goals. We’re grateful you decided to make helping the Grief Resource Center a priority. Thank you so much.

Our emcee and entertainment director star duo, Andrew and Susan Varela, kept us all entertained, and Coach Kelli Peters and the Muskego High School Cheerleaders made the evening quite memorable. Special thanks to Auctioneer Dan Pronley, Davians, Imagine Marketing, Lincoln Financial Group, Kapco Metal Stamping, Mallatt’s Homecare Pharmacy and Wood Grain Media as well, and ALL of our INCREDIBLE donors.

Finally, congratulations are in order for President of Froedtert Hospital Cathy Buck and leading breast cancer surgeon Dr. Alonzo Walker for receiving this year’s Touching Lives Awards for their passion, dedication and hard work in our communities.
